Are you a highly motivated student with a passion for bioinformatics and a desire to gain practical experience in a leading pharmaceutical company? Novartis is looking for a Werkstudent (student intern) to join our Bioinformatics team in Kufstein. In this role, you will contribute to real-world projects, supporting our research and development efforts with data analysis, visualization, and computational biology tasks. This is an excellent opportunity for students enrolled in relevant programs to apply their academic knowledge in a professional setting and collaborate with experienced scientists. English is our working language, so German skills are not strictly required, but always a plus!

Hauptverantwortlichkeiten

• Assist senior bioinformaticians with the analysis of complex biological datasets (e.g., genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics).
• Develop and maintain scripts or tools for data processing, analysis, and visualization using languages like Python or R.
• Support the preparation of data for presentations, reports, and scientific publications.
• Contribute to the upkeep and documentation of bioinformatics pipelines and databases.
• Stay informed about new bioinformatics methods and tools, and propose their application where relevant.
• Participate in team meetings and actively contribute to project discussions.

Erforderliche Fähigkeiten

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Biology, or a related field.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language relevant for bioinformatics (e.g., Python, R).
• Basic understanding of molecular biology, genetics, and/or biochemistry principles.
• Familiarity with common bioinformatics tools and databases.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills in English (verbal and written).

Bevorzugte Qualifikationen

• Previous experience with data analysis or scientific programming, even if through academic projects.
• Knowledge of statistical methods applied to biological data.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Familiarity with cloud computing environments or high-performance computing (HPC).
• Basic German language skills.
