Stellenbeschreibung

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Hybrid Computational Biologist with a strong background in Data Science to join our innovative research and development team in Salzburg. In this role, you will be instrumental in leveraging cutting-edge computational approaches and advanced data science techniques to accelerate drug discovery and development. You will work on diverse biological datasets, developing and applying algorithms to extract meaningful insights, identify novel therapeutic targets, and predict drug efficacy and safety profiles. This position requires a strong foundation in biology, bioinformatics, and statistics, coupled with proficiency in programming and data visualization.

Hauptverantwortlichkeiten

• Develop and implement computational pipelines for the analysis of large-scale biological datasets, including genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics data.
• Apply advanced statistical and machine learning methods to identify biomarkers, predict drug responses, and uncover disease mechanisms.
• Collaborate closely with experimental biologists, chemists, and clinicians to translate computational findings into testable hypotheses and experimental designs.
• Contribute to the design and execution of data integration strategies from various internal and external sources.
• Communicate complex scientific results effectively through presentations, reports, and interactive visualizations to diverse audiences.
• Stay abreast of the latest developments in computational biology, data science, and pharmaceutical research.
• Maintain high standards of data quality, reproducibility, and documentation for all analyses and models.

Erforderliche Fähigkeiten

• PhD or Master's degree in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Data Science, or a related field.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R.
• Strong understanding of biological concepts, including molecular biology, genetics, and cell biology.
• Experience with statistical analysis, machine learning algorithms, and data visualization techniques.
• Familiarity with bioinformatics tools and databases (e.g., NCBI, UCSC Genome Browser, UniProt).
• Experience working with large and complex biological datasets.

Bevorzugte Qualifikationen

• Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Prior experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
• Knowledge of network biology or systems biology approaches.
• Demonstrated ability to publish in peer-reviewed journals.
