Stellenbeschreibung

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Hybrid Bioinformatics Developer to join our innovative team in Linz. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and optimizing bioinformatics pipelines and tools to analyze complex biological datasets. This position offers a unique blend of computational development and close collaboration with wet-lab scientists, providing an exciting opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research and product development in diagnostics. You will work with diverse data types, including next-generation sequencing (NGS), and contribute to the entire data lifecycle from raw data to actionable insights.

Hauptverantwortlichkeiten

• Design, develop, and maintain robust bioinformatics pipelines and tools for analyzing large-scale biological datasets (e.g., genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics).
• Implement and optimize algorithms for data processing, quality control, statistical analysis, and visualization.
• Collaborate closely with molecular biologists, data scientists, and software engineers to understand research needs and translate them into bioinformatics solutions.
• Perform data analysis and interpretation, providing insights and reports to scientific teams.
• Ensure the reproducibility, scalability, and documentation of all bioinformatics tools and analyses.
• Stay current with the latest advancements in bioinformatics, computational biology, and relevant technologies.
• Contribute to the development of best practices and standards for bioinformatics workflows within the organization.

Erforderliche Fähigkeiten

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and R.
• Strong experience with Linux/Unix operating systems and command-line tools.
• Demonstrated experience in analyzing Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) data (e.g., RNA-seq, DNA-seq, ChIP-seq).
• Familiarity with common bioinformatics tools and databases (e.g., BLAST, SAMtools, GATK, Bioconductor).
• Solid understanding of statistical methods and their application in biological data analysis.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Bevorzugte Qualifikationen

• Master’s or PhD degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Genetics, or a related field.
• Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) for bioinformatics workloads.
• Knowledge of machine learning techniques and their application in biological contexts.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Singularity).
• Experience in a regulated environment (e.g., IVD, pharma).
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
