Stellenbeschreibung
We are seeking a dedicated and culturally sensitive International Student Advisor to join our University Administration team. In this pivotal role, you will be the primary point of contact for international students, guiding them through their academic journey, from admission to graduation. You will provide essential advice on immigration, visa processes, academic regulations, cultural integration, and student life in Switzerland. This role demands excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of international student needs, and a commitment to ensuring a positive experience for all students.
Hauptverantwortlichkeiten
- Provide comprehensive advising to prospective and enrolled international students on visa regulations, immigration procedures, and residency permits.
- Assist students with pre-arrival information, orientation programs, and ongoing support services.
- Act as a liaison between international students and various university departments, including admissions, registrars, and academic advisors.
- Develop and deliver workshops and informational sessions on topics relevant to international students, such as cultural adjustment, academic success, and post-graduation options.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Swiss immigration laws and university policies affecting international students.
- Process and manage student records and documentation in compliance with university and governmental regulations.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance the international student experience.
Erforderliche Fähigkeiten
- Bachelor's degree in International Relations, Counseling, Higher Education Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in international student advising, immigration services, or a similar role within a university setting.
- Proficiency in English and German (written and spoken).
- Excellent interpersonal, cross-cultural communication, and counseling skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Familiarity with Swiss immigration laws and regulations for international students.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Bevorzugte Qualifikationen
- Master's degree.
- Experience with student information systems (e.g., SAP, Banner).
- Proficiency in additional languages (e.g., French, Italian, Spanish, Mandarin).
- Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver effective presentations and workshops.
