Stellenbeschreibung

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Librarian to join the English Section of our prestigious University Library. This role is crucial in supporting the academic and research needs of our diverse university community, particularly those focused on English language and literature, American studies, and other related disciplines. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and developing our English language collections, providing specialized reference services, and promoting library resources to faculty, researchers, and students. Hauptverantwortlichkeiten

• Develop, manage, and curate the English language collection, including print and electronic resources, ensuring relevance and accessibility.
• Provide expert reference and research assistance to faculty, students, and staff, specializing in English language and literature, and related fields.
• Catalog and classify library materials according to established standards (e.g., DDC, LC), ensuring accurate metadata.
• Conduct library instruction sessions and workshops for individuals and groups on research methodologies, resource discovery, and information literacy.
• Collaborate with academic departments to identify and acquire resources that support current curricula and research needs.
• Participate in library outreach activities, promoting services and resources to the university community.
• Stay current with trends in library science, digital librarianship, and scholarly communication, especially within English studies.
• Assist with interlibrary loan services and document delivery as needed.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of library policies and procedures.

Erforderliche Fähigkeiten

• Master's degree in Library Science (MLS/MLIS) from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent.
• Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken (C2 level).
• Proficiency in library management systems (LMS) and cataloging standards.
• Strong knowledge of research methodologies and information retrieval techniques.
• Experience with collection development and management.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a diverse team environment.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Bevorzugte Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in English Language, Literature, or a related humanities field.
• Familiarity with German academic library systems and standards.
• Experience with digital humanities resources and tools.
• Proficiency in additional languages, particularly German.
• Experience in academic library instruction and user education.
