Stellenbeschreibung

We are seeking enthusiastic and compassionate Animal Shelter Volunteers to join our rescue work team in Meiringen. This is a unique opportunity to contribute directly to the well-being of animals in need, providing essential care, comfort, and support. As a volunteer, you will play a crucial role in the daily operations of our shelter, from direct animal interaction to assisting with maintenance and administrative tasks. While this is a volunteer position, a small monthly stipend is provided to help cover expenses. Your dedication will help us continue our vital rescue and rehoming efforts.

Hauptverantwortlichkeiten

• Assist with daily feeding and watering of animals (dogs, cats, small mammals).
• Clean and maintain animal enclosures, beds, and common areas to ensure a hygienic environment.
• Provide exercise, socialization, and enrichment activities for animals, including walking dogs and playing with cats.
• Assist staff with animal intake procedures, health checks, and record-keeping.
• Help with basic grooming tasks such as brushing and bathing.
• Support in transporting animals to veterinary appointments or adoption events.
• Engage with potential adopters, sharing information about animals and facilitating meet-and-greets.
• Perform light administrative duties and general shelter maintenance as needed.

Erforderliche Fähigkeiten

• Genuine love and compassion for animals.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
• Reliable, punctual, and committed to a regular volunteer schedule.
• Good physical stamina and ability to lift up to 15 kg (e.g., bags of feed, cleaning supplies).
• Basic understanding of animal behavior and safety protocols.
• Fluency in German or strong conversational skills in German.

Bevorzugte Qualifikationen

• Previous experience volunteering or working with animals in a shelter or rescue setting.
• Knowledge of basic animal first aid.
• Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and challenges.
• Proficiency in English or French is a plus.
