Stellenbeschreibung

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled English Speaking Biomaterials Scientist to join our R&D team on a hybrid basis in Herne, Germany. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in the design, synthesis, characterization, and evaluation of novel biomaterials for various applications, including medical devices, drug delivery systems, and regenerative medicine. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research and development that directly impacts human health. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in materials science, polymer chemistry, or biomedical engineering with a focus on biomaterials, coupled with excellent communication skills in English.

Hauptverantwortlichkeiten

• Designing and executing experiments for the synthesis and modification of biomaterials.
• Characterizing the physical, chemical, and biological properties of developed materials using various analytical techniques (e.g., spectroscopy, microscopy, mechanical testing).
• Evaluating biomaterial performance in in-vitro and potentially in-vivo models.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including biologists, engineers, and clinicians.
• Maintaining accurate records, analyzing data, and preparing detailed technical reports and presentations.
• Staying current with scientific literature and industry trends in biomaterials.
• Contributing to the intellectual property portfolio through invention disclosures and patent applications.

Erforderliche Fähigkeiten

• Ph.D. or Master's degree in Materials Science, Biomedical Engineering, Polymer Chemistry, or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in biomaterials research and development, preferably in an industry setting.
• Demonstrated expertise in the synthesis, characterization, and application of various biomaterial types (e.g., polymers, ceramics, composites).
• Proficiency with analytical techniques such as FTIR, SEM, AFM, mechanical testing, and rheology.
• Strong understanding of biocompatibility principles and materials-biology interactions.
• Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a results-oriented mindset.

Bevorzugte Qualifikationen

• Experience with specific biomaterial processing techniques (e.g., electrospinning, 3D printing, hydrogel fabrication).
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements for medical devices and biomaterials.
• Publications in peer-reviewed journals and/or patent applications related to biomaterials.
• Proficiency in German is a plus, but not required.
• Experience with statistical analysis software.
