We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Journalist / Reporter to join our English-language team in Freiburg im Breisgau. In this role, you will be crucial in researching, writing, and delivering compelling news stories for our international audience. You will cover a wide range of topics, including politics, economics, culture, and social issues, with a focus on delivering impartial and impactful journalism. The ideal candidate will have a strong command of English, excellent storytelling abilities, and a deep understanding of global affairs.

Hauptverantwortlichkeiten

• Conduct in-depth research and gather information from diverse sources for news stories and features.
• Perform interviews with key individuals, experts, and eyewitnesses to gain unique perspectives.
• Write, edit, and produce engaging news reports, articles, and scripts for various platforms (digital, broadcast).
• Report live from events and locations as required, delivering accurate and timely updates.
• Generate innovative story ideas that resonate with an international audience and align with DW's editorial guidelines.
• Collaborate closely with editors, producers, and multimedia specialists to ensure high-quality content.
• Adhere strictly to journalistic ethics, accuracy standards, and impartiality guidelines.
• Monitor global current events and identify emerging trends relevant to DW's coverage.

Erforderliche Fähigkeiten

• Native or near-native fluency in English with exceptional writing and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to research complex topics thoroughly and concisely.
• Proven experience in conducting effective interviews and gathering compelling quotes.
• Strong storytelling capabilities across different media formats.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and consistently meet tight deadlines.
• Solid understanding of international politics, economics, and cultural landscapes.
• Proficiency in using digital publishing tools, content management systems, and social media for news dissemination.

Bevorzugte Qualifikationen

• Fluency in German or another major international language (e.g., French, Spanish, Arabic).
• Previous experience working for an international media organization.
• Master's degree in Journalism, Communications, Political Science, or a related field.
• Experience with multimedia reporting, including video, audio, and interactive content.
• A portfolio demonstrating diverse journalistic work, including investigative pieces or international reports.
