AFRY is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Traffic Engineer specializing in Road Planning to join our dynamic team in Thun, Switzerland. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the planning, analysis, and design of road infrastructure projects, ensuring optimal traffic flow, safety, and sustainability. You will contribute to various stages of projects, from conceptual studies to detailed design, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of transportation in Switzerland, working on challenging and impactful projects that benefit communities. We are looking for a professional who is passionate about creating efficient and safe road networks, utilizing their expertise in traffic modeling, data analysis, and regulatory compliance. This is an on-site position based in our Thun office.

Hauptverantwortlichkeiten

• Conduct comprehensive traffic studies, including data collection, analysis, and forecasting.
• Develop and evaluate road planning concepts and designs, focusing on traffic flow, safety, and capacity.
• Utilize traffic modeling software (e.g., VISSIM, PTV Visum, SIDRA) for simulations and impact assessments.
• Prepare detailed technical reports, drawings, and specifications for road infrastructure projects.
• Collaborate with urban planners, civil engineers, environmental specialists, and public authorities.
• Ensure compliance with local, regional, and national transportation standards and regulations.
• Participate in public consultations and stakeholder meetings as required.
• Contribute to project management activities, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
• Research and apply innovative traffic engineering solutions and sustainable transport concepts.

Erforderliche Fähigkeiten

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience (minimum 4 years) in traffic engineering and road planning.
• Strong proficiency in traffic modeling and simulation software (e.g., PTV Vissim, Visum).
• In-depth knowledge of Swiss (or comparable European) transportation regulations and design standards.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation).
• Fluency in German and/or French, with good working knowledge of English.
• Strong communication and presentation abilities.

• Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification.
• Experience with public transport planning and multimodal integration.
