Stellenbeschreibung
We are seeking a visionary and experienced Hybrid Direct Air Capture Engineer to join our innovative Sustainability division. In this crucial role, you will be instrumental in developing, optimizing, and implementing cutting-edge hybrid direct air capture (HDAC) technologies to combat climate change. You will work on projects from conceptual design through to pilot scale-up, contributing directly to ABB’s mission of creating a sustainable future. This is a hybrid position, requiring a balance of on-site work at our Geneva facility and remote collaboration.
Hauptverantwortlichkeiten
- Design, simulate, and optimize hybrid direct air capture systems, integrating various capture technologies and energy sources.
- Conduct feasibility studies and techno-economic analyses for HDAC projects.
- Develop and execute experimental plans for laboratory and pilot-scale testing of DAC components and systems.
- Analyze performance data, identify areas for improvement, and implement iterative design changes.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams including chemical engineers, mechanical engineers, material scientists, and project managers.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in direct air capture, carbon utilization, and sustainable engineering.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and patent applications.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards in all development activities.
Erforderliche Fähigkeiten
- Master's degree or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in chemical process design, simulation (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, PRO/II), and optimization.
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics, mass transfer, and fluid dynamics relevant to gas separation.
- Experience with direct air capture (DAC) technologies, CO2 capture, or other gas separation processes.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB, Python, R).
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Bevorzugte Qualifikationen
- Experience with hybrid energy systems or renewable energy integration.
- Familiarity with materials science and advanced sorbents for CO2 capture.
- Knowledge of LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) methodologies.
- Project management experience in R&D or pilot plant development.
- Publications or patents related to carbon capture or environmental technologies.
